Freediving is basically diving without scuba gear or any other breathing device. It relies on a diver’s ability to hold his or her breath until resurfacing. People who regularly compete as freedivers attempt to attain great depths, times, or distances on a single breath. The current free diving record is 4 minutes and 9 seconds during a 380 foot plunge into Dean’s Blue Hole, in the Bahamas. Wow, just wow.
